Author Reveals Latest Radiation Treatment Did Not Work; Cancer Is Worse
Nabeel Qureshi, a Christian apologist who gained fame with his ex-Muslim story, has revealed that radiation was unsuccessful in preventing his cancer from spreading.
Qureshi is the author of the best-selling books No God but One: Allah or Jesus? and Seeking Allah, Finding Jesus. The Christian apologist and author revealed in August 2016 that he had been diagnosed with advanced stomach cancer and that the situation looked grim.
Qureshi recently updated his followers on social media that latest attempts at treatment were unsuccessful.
“I wish I had good news to share, but we just got the scan results back. It looks like the radiation didn’t work, and the cancer has spread to more lymph nodes. We are kind of at a loss as to what to do now. Please do pray as the Lord leads,” Qureshi wrote on Facebook, where he published his latest video diary about his health.
The primary tumor shrunk some, he revealed, but the tumor was still present and had affected more lymph nodes throughout his chest.
Qureshi, 34, said he was expecting to hear about additional treatment options from his doctors.
He was initially diagnosed with stage four stomach cancer, which usually cannot be cured, according to the American Cancer Society. The organization explains that treatment can, however, help alleviate some of the symptoms while keeping the cancer under control.
“This is about the worst news we’ve received since the first day we were diagnosed. The cancer is now worse,” Qureshi revealed in his latest video blog.
The married father was not giving up hope, however. Qureshi shared that he was praying that “God is able to glorify Himself even more through what’s going to happen.”
“Can’t lose hope. Can’t lose hope,” he added. “There’s a lot on the line, especially my daughter. I don’t want her to grow up fatherless. So keep praying. We keep pushing. Keep doing what we can.”
Qureshi concluded his video update with prayer, but first stated that he would continue monitoring his diet. He added that he was also considering reviewing various alternate treatment centers from around the world.
The former Muslim made it clear that he was still maintaining hope that God would “come through” and heal him.
“Regardless, thank you for all your prayers,” Qureshi added.
Qureshi had been working with Ravi Zacharias International Ministries when his 2016 diagnosis forced him to leave the apologetics organization. He revealed at the time, however, that he was intent on finishing his fourth book, 20 Questions Muslims Ask and the Answers that Convert Them. Beyond that, he had no certain plans, he said.
