For a teacher with a background rooted in faith, the classroom is more than just a place to teach.
It is true that many religious traditions, including Judaism and Christianity, have seen natural disasters as divine punishment. But, as a scholar of religion, I would argue that things aren’t that simple.
While we’re here, we should make every effort to be free, follow the example of Jesus and champion causes bigger than ourselves. Then, maybe our doubts and insecurities will take care of themselves.
This isn’t a criticism of the church from the outside, this is coming from someone who can turn to a song in the hymnal faster than you can locate it on Pandora.
