Carl Lentz, pastor of Hillsong Church in New York City, and Bishop T.D. Jakes of The Potter’s House in Texas, recorded their discussion of the tragic police killing of George Floyd and the Bible’s perspective on racism.
Lentz explained that while he was writing his sermon for the weekend, he decided to call Jakes, one of his mentors. During their discussion, the Dallas, Texas, megachurch pastor offered to speak to the congregation, Lentz said.
“I believe we are in a moment in history right now,” Lentz said. “I believe we’re in a cultural tipping point and that the church of Jesus Christ is gonna rise up and shine a light. And I believe we’re called to play a part in that and I really pray that God really uses us.”
Hillsong published his interview with Jakes on the church’s YouTube page.
