Cynt Marshall, the first Black Female CEO of an NBA team, has survived an abusive father, Stage 3 cancer, and other challenges throughout her 60-plus years of life.
Now, the Dallas Mavericks CEO hopes to inspire others by sharing her journey in the new book, You’ve Been Chosen: Thriving Through the Unexpected.
In You’ve Been Chosen, Marshall shares “the good, the great, the bad, and the ugly parts” of her journey, according to the publisher.
Marshall credits her faith in God with helping her to overcome the rough patches in life.
“I often say sometimes the light at the end of the tunnel is a train,” she told NPR. “I mean, sometimes it really is a train. Something is coming to roll you over, but the Lord is always there and He shows up faithful and He always shows up and He always has great people to show up in my life.”
The devout Christian also talked with “CBS Morning” hosts (and also appeared on the “CBS Morning” podcast) to discuss parts of her journey, as recounted in the book.
