A Church of the Highlands associate pastor has been sued as part of a workplace sexual harassment lawsuit filed last week in federal court.
Dino Rizzo, an associate pastor at the Birmingham-based Church of the Highlands, the largest church in Alabama and one of the largest in the nation, is named as a defendant in the lawsuit, which alleges Rizzo did not protect a church intern from sexual harassment by a lead pastor at a Mississippi church where Rizzo is an overseer.
Rizzo referred AL.com’s request for comment to the Association of Related Churches (ARC), a Birmingham-based evangelical church planting organization Rizzo co-founded and for which he serves as executive director. The lawsuit stems from alleged events that took place at an ARC member church called Vibrant Church, a megachurch in Columbus, Miss.

In that time, we’ve made an impact on Christian media and achieved meaningful milestones — such as creating a volunteer Associate Editor role, launching an Editorial Fellowship, and proudly paying our contributing writers. But we need your support to keep going. In addition to partnering with advertisers, nurturing a subscription/membership, and exploring paid live events, we rely on the generosity of readers who see value in our work and in our mission. We invite you to join us, and keep walking with us, in our mission. Every amount, big or small, empowers us to stay the course. Here are a few ways you can join us:
