A Church of the Highlands associate pastor has been sued as part of a workplace sexual harassment lawsuit filed last week in federal court.
Dino Rizzo, an associate pastor at the Birmingham-based Church of the Highlands, the largest church in Alabama and one of the largest in the nation, is named as a defendant in the lawsuit, which alleges Rizzo did not protect a church intern from sexual harassment by a lead pastor at a Mississippi church where Rizzo is an overseer.
Rizzo referred AL.com’s request for comment to the Association of Related Churches (ARC), a Birmingham-based evangelical church planting organization Rizzo co-founded and for which he serves as executive director. The lawsuit stems from alleged events that took place at an ARC member church called Vibrant Church, a megachurch in Columbus, Miss.
