John Gray, associate pastor at Lakewood Church, will have the first episode of his new reality show, “The Book of John,” air on the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) in time for the Easter holiday weekend.
According to OWN:
The Book of John Gray is a dramedy docu-follow hybrid about the life of John Gray and his uniquely humorous way of helping people. John, who is an associate pastor at Houston’s Lakewood Church under Pastor Joel Osteen, is just beginning to achieve success. Known for his loud, hilarious, unconventional ways, John will give viewers unprecedented and intimate access into his church and home life. John uses his deep convictions, hard-earned wisdom and famous sense of humor to help people overcome their greatest challenges, all while facing his own everyday struggles as a husband and father.
In addition to Pastor Gray, his wife, Aventer Gray, is listed as a primary cast member for “The Book of John.” Her bio reveals:
Aventer currently serves alongside her husband, Pastor John, who is an Associate Pastor at Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas. At Lakewood Church, she is the Director of the Lakewood Dance Ministry. Under her vision, its functionality is that of a dance school that is open to ages 4 to 100 and offers technical classes in various dance genres, incorporating biblical principles and studies within.
“The Book of John” premieres April 15, the day before Easter. However, the premiere episode was available for streaming on Oprah.com. An extended trailer, seen below, reveals some of the ministry work Gray is involved in, as well as drama at home and personal issues involving his health and what appears to be childhood abuse.
