Amazon MGM Studios will be streaming the new romantic comedy, “Relationship Goals,” inspired by Pastor Michael Todd’s No. 1 New York Times bestselling book, Relationship Goals: How to Win at Dating, Marriage, and Sex, on Prime Video in early 2026.
The film features a star-studded cast led by Gramm-winning recording artists and actors Kelly Rowland and Clifford “Method Man” Smith, alongside Robin Thede (“A Black Lady Sketch Show”) and Annie Gonzalez (“Flamin’ Hot”).
According to promoters, the film brings the Transformation Church pastor’s viral sermon series and subsequent book to life, “blending humor, heart, and practical, faith-centered insight” on relationships.”

The storyline centers on Leah Caldwell (Rowland), a brilliant TV producer on the verge of making history as the first woman to run New York’s top morning show. Her professional ambitions encounter a complication when her ex, Jarrett Roy (Smith), emerges to compete for the same position.
Jarrett claims to be a “changed man,” attributing his transformation to the wisdom found in Todd’s Relationship Goals book. As Leah’s friends also begin reading the bestseller and rediscovering their own love goals, Leah remains laser-focused on breaking the glass ceiling. However, she faces a challenge in denying the reignited chemistry with her former flame.
The “Relationship Goals” movie looks to capitalize on the massive cultural footprint of its source material, originally a sermon series kicked off by Todd in 2017. The series was later published as a book in 2020. Relationship Goals debuted at No. 1 on Amazon and spent 13 consecutive weeks on the New York Times Best Sellers list, following his viral sermon series that garnered millions of views online.
“Seeing Relationship Goals come to life on the big screen is a full-circle moment for me… What started as a sermon series to help people win in relationships turned into a #1 New York Times bestselling book and now a movie that shows the power of God’s original design for relationships in real life,” Todd said a press release via his publisher. “It’s proof that it’s only crazy until it happens — and when God’s in it, it always happens bigger than you imagined.”
Todd, speaking about then-announced movie project in 2024, described it as intended for a broad, mainstream audience rather than only for churchgoers. He emphasized that the project is meant to feel like an actual romantic comedy and reach people “where they’re at,” beyond typical Christian-market films.
“I’m trying to prepare my church right now for the backlash, OK? We’re making a real movie,” Todd, who is an executive producer, said. “Not the Christian, like, ‘I’m going after the lost.’ I want them to be watching rom-coms and find Relationship Goals, and I want it to be real to them where they’re at.”

The screenplay was developed by Michael Elliot (“Brown Sugar,” “Like Mike”), Cory Tynan (“Woman, Thou Art Loosed: On the 7th Day”), and Laura Lekkos, and the project is directed by Linda Mendoza (“Harlem,” “Grown-ish,” “Scrubs”). Devon Franklin, producing the project under his Franklin Entertainment, reportedly began looking at a movie adaptation of the bestselling book as in 2021.
The PG-13 rom-com is scheduled for a Feb. 4 release on Prime Video, while a movie tie-in version of the book drops in January.
