Editor’s note: The following is a special message from Faithfully Magazine’s Founder and Executive Editor Nicola A. Menzie. A version of this message was previously shared with newsletter subscribers. If you haven’t signed up for the Faithfully Magazine newsletter yet, you can sign up here or directly below.
We have just launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for the very first print issue of the publication. That’s right — Faithfully Magazine is debuting next year as an actual magazine you can hold in your hands. Isn’t it exciting!
Watch the promotional video or see the live campaign at Kickstarter: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/faithfullymag/faithfully-magazine-celebrating-christians-of-colo/
Faithfully Magazine remains fully focused on its mission as a News and Lifestyle publication that advocates for, celebrates and informs Christian Communities of Color. The Kickstarter campaign will help us create a variety of content that reflects the conversations, issues and events Communities of Color say are important to their faith and to their lives.
Issue No. 1 of Faithfully Magazine will be printed in January and arrive in your mailbox by February, if you and others make the Kickstarter campaign a success.
Here is a look at just a few of the stories we have on deck for the full-color, 80-page premiere issue:
- Christians of Color share in their own words how they are moving forward under a Donald Trump presidency;
- A diverse survey of responses on whether, due to the 2016 campaign, the term “Evangelical” should be dumped or redeemed;
- A gripping feature on a former felon who came to faith in prison and still has to answer for his alleged crimes;
- A revealing Q&A with rapper and pastor Trip Lee that includes his thoughts on the presidential election and how he cares for a faith community of both Trump and Clinton voters;
- A sit-down with the husband-a leaders of Crossover Church, a popular urban ministry that’s also a millennial magnet.
We also have some exclusive “thank you” gifts for contributors to the Kickstarter campaign, like this unique premium t-shirt with the motto “Do Good. Obey God. Stay Woke.” shown below. You can also invite me to speak at your event, meet up for coffee or get access to some of my previously unpublished audio interviews with Christian leaders like Lisa Sharon Harper, T.D. Jakes, Dharius Daniels, Priscilla Shirer, Tony Evans, and others.
If you believe Christian news media (and U.S. media in general) need the contributions of diverse voices and perspectives, particularly on issues that directly impact People of Color, then support Faithfully Magazine’s Kickstarter campaign.
As someone who admires how the black press historically functioned to advocate for and inform African Americans, I believe Faithfully Magazine can, and should, take on a similar role for Christian Communities of Color. Help make that happen by sharing the Kickstarter campaign with everyone in your online and offline communities. Share this message on Twitter, Facebook and on your other social networks and email it to friends and family members.
We will periodically update Faithfully Magazine subscribers about the Kickstarter campaign, so if you want to be the first to know when we hit our goal and the issue starts printing, sign up now.
I appreciate your time and commitment to making sure Christian Communities of Color are represented in the media.
