Tributes Planned for Mandisa

At least two other public tributes have been planned for Mandisa.

Among them is a performance by The Fisk Jubilee Singers, a group composed of students at Fisk University in Nashville. The group will reportedly dedicate a song to Mandisa during their May 5 commencement ceremony.

As an alumna of the university, Mandisa was also part of The Fisk Jubilee Singers herself. However, what really helped to propel her career further was her appearance on the fifth season of “American Idol” where she made an unforgettable impression.

The long-running program, currently hosted by Ryan Seacrest, also plans to honor the late star with a tribute. The tribute is reportedly scheduled to air during the Sunday, April 28 episode of “American Idol.”

The Franklin Police Department reported this week that, so far, no foul play was suspected in the 47-year-old singer’s death.

“The Franklin Police Department is continuing to investigate the death of a woman found inside a Beamon Dr. residence last Thursday evening,” the department said on April 22 on social media.

“At this time, there is no indication the death was the result of suspicious or criminal activity,” according to the statement. “The Franklin Police Department sends its condolences to Hundley’s family, friends, and fans.”
